​Hi. Welcome to Connexions Counselling where the aim is to provide you with a safe and supportive space to move forward from difficult experiences in your past or present. So you can gain a sense of peace and clarity, cope more effectively and create positive changes in your life.  

Karen uses traditional therapeutic counselling approaches in combination with emotional regulation and stress management techniques including Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT/"Tapping") and Mindfulness. 

​The techniques you will learn are ones you can continue to use whenever you experience stressful situations in your day to day life. EFT is clinically proven to reduce stress and anxiety. You can find out more about EFT here.

My approach

​Down to earth and judgement free, my approach is focused on how stress and/or trauma is impacting your physical and emotional health. Stress and trauma can effect so many facets of your life, most of it likely occurring outside your conscious awareness. Fear creates many negative beliefs and patterns that can stop you from doing what you most want to do and can leave you feeling frustrated, overwhelmed and exhausted. 

​The pace of appointments is guided by you and where you are at. You are the expert in your situation and I am guided by this. I believe we all have the answers we are seeking if given the opportunity to unpack and clarify what is getting in the way.

​The most common comments people make at the end of appointments is they feel calmer, the issue they came in with doesn't feel like so much of an issue anymore, and they have a greater sense of clarity about what to do next. 


​Expressive art techniques

If you are someone who prefers to express themselves creatively or perhaps finds it too difficult or painful to talk about your experiences, then be sure to ask about the option of using expressive art techniques. These techniques provide a way to safely explore emotions and memories and get to the core of the issue without necessarily needing to talk about the event or concern. No art experience is required as the process is about self-expression through simple mark making rather than creating a piece of art. ​​​​​
